TRADITIONAL VS FULL SYSTEM DISASTER RECOVERY
In a traditional disaster recovery scenario, only a system’s data is backed up. This causes additional work to be performed when disaster recovery occurs:
- The system’s operating system (i.e. Windows®) is re-installed and updated.
- The application software is re-installed and updated.
- The data is recovered from backups.
In a full system disaster recovery scenario, the complete system is backed up. This causes a single step process when disaster recovery occurs:
- Restore the complete system as it was at last backup.
